How old/big is he now? Looks like maybe he isn't done with his color change? Or was he a Maxx pink?

Looking good Jon =D>
He's from the Maxx Pink lineage... produced in '00 if memory serves me correctly. Currently he's in the 4 1/2' range...
Unfortunately the lineage is quite variable... judge for yourself!

That's what I thought, could tell by the color in between the saddles.
Good looking Bco.... but the high contrast ones reeeeally do it for me ;)
I've got another female that isn't from the maxx pink line that is more of the "high contrast" unfortunately no pics other than ones from when she was under a year old. Gimme a few days and I'll get some for you. BTW I like the one you posted in the "intro" forum.

Thanks, he's my Baby, hehee.
I'd love to see pics of your female. These snakes are so underrated.
I couldn't agree more Michelle about the being underrated. Personally I think they make a much better first boa for someone compared to a BCI... sure they have the huff and puff but their incredible hardiness far outweighs that... I don't think I have ever seen a BCO with a resp. infection...
PS the female max pink was under the male in the pair shot... darker female pics to come...

I am going to have to disagree with you on this point Jon. I believe they are poor first Boas simply because of their size potential. Females can reach up to 14 feet, and that is a bit much for a new owner. Some of the BCI locales only reach 4-5 feet, such as the Sonorans I am working with.
I'd be very curious to see proof of an actual 14' Argentine boa. B. c. constrictor is generally considered to be the largest subspecies, and even then you don't see 14-footers falling out of the sky.

While I have never seen one myself, I have heard from others I trust that they can and do sometimes reach this size.
It cannot be argued that as a whole, Argentines are a larger snake than BCI.
By the way, those are some VERY nice looking Argies!! :D
I would love to see a verfied 14' Argentine. Please. That would be an impressive snake.

No doubt!
From the way Michelle's baby Argie has been growing, she just might be one of the giants lol.

Sheesh, no kidding! Can you believe that this girl is just over 6 months old?
http://primareptilia.com/gallery/albums/sekhmet/Sekhmet_12.sized.jpg
She is as large as our yearling Bci!! Crazy.... I can't wait for her to be huge... hehehe
Beardo-
From my experience with Argentines I would say that the typical growth (bulk) is much slower compared to say a BCI 'colombian'.... 4 year old male that is around 4 1/2 foot... thick around as my wrist. Mind you I could make him larger but I feed him moderately... his sister on the other hand is around 6 1/2-7' big around as my calf and roughly 20 pounds... she gets fed a little heavier than him but not in excess....14 day intervals on both of them... Now when I say they would make a better first boa for someone... couple of things... where do most pet shop boas come from? "Captive born"... yeah that's right born on a "farm" ... probably right next to the 3 little pigs and lil' bo peep... down in the bowels of South America... BCO on the other hand... unless you know someone I don't know they will all be captive bred... right in the US of A... no imports... As for the max length on a BCO... largest I have ever seen was a couple of 8' females that were in the 30 pound range... big boas but no where near 14'... maybe that fourteen footer is hanging out with Sasquatch, JFK and Elvis.... give me some legit proof and I'll eat my hat... Back to the better than BCI... sure the Sonoran's stay smaller but so a handful of other locales... are these typically found in a pet shop? Unless you are a specialty shop... most likely not. I guess if you want a good first boa that stays small and is readily available (to those not in with the reptile market)... then I guess a rosy boa would be the best bet... at that point you might as well save yourself $74.99 and get a cornsnake...

Apophis is nearly 7' and is just over 3.5 years old, he is also fed moderately.
I saw a huge Argentine somewhere... but I can't remember where. grrrr Darn my old age, lol.
Here's the largest one I can find a picture of...

Kind of hard to get an idea of size....but good sized none the less...doubt 14'...
