I don't understand what the attraction is to some morphs such as the Yellow-belly and the Whitesided. Even in NERD's description for the white-sided, they state "The scales are perfect and not the result of thermal burns or scarring.". That's supposed to be attractive and a selling point?

Even some of the others like Granite and Reduced Pattern. I'm sorry, I have seen some normals that look much more attractive. Is the marketability the fact that it is a genetic trait that can be reproduced, or are there people out there that really appreciate the looks of some of these morphs over a normal?

have you seen some of the animals produced from yellow belly crosses?! The ivory is awesome as well!!! The white sided is ok....Are those the same as the calico's? If so Calico's produce bubble gums which are awesome! Even the ugliest morph bred into others make awesome animals! I like em all! There are some True reduced pattern proven animals like spiders, womas, Ralph davis banded and Corey Woods banded lines. All are Awesome!!! Granite bred to a Yellow produced an ebony! Do some research and look around! I'm telling you...a nothing could make some awesome animals! Abberant animals bred into yellow bellies have made some AWESOME looking animals. Jared Bred a Stripped animal to a YB and produced a fully stripped YB that's just sick looking!!!...I could go on LOL

Thanks, that explains a lot. I was just looking at the individual morphs for what they were and not for their potential. Interesting stuff. I'm still a little confused, though. You mentioned a Granite mixed with a Yellow can produce an ebony. Is an ebony an individual morph, or can an ebony only be produced by mixing a those two other morphs?

The ebony was produced by a Yellow belly bred to a granite. I don't know if anyone has bred ebony to ebony yet. Breeding yellow belly to granite is the only way to produce ebony's.

It can all be summed up as: Different strokes for different folks. Personally, I have no desire to own a pure white BP. I have no desire to own one that is more than 50% white, so I will luck out on pied prices when I go hunting for my low-white pieds in a few years (unless I win the Powerball...) Personally, I love orange hypos for what they look like, not what combos they can create. As for the white-sided and calicoes, I think they look neat! I am really hoping their price comes down in the near future so I can get one or two.

You're right about the "different strokes", but it cracked me up to see the Nerd quote about the white-sided not being due to burns or scarring.

That's because "thermal burning" which happens during incubation, and scar scales long healed can look very similar.
