Here's a pic of my little ball, Monty. Both his name and that massive scar come from his former owners. I adopted him about a year ago and he is just the sweetest thing, but the vet was amazed he made it out of that episode with just a scar! (sorry for the crappy picture but it illustrates the point) Just a reminder not to leave live rats in the cage...

Hi Robilyn!

Webshots usually doesn't allow remote linking...have you tried Photobucket.com (http://photobucket.com) yet? That may be an option here, as I'm sure we'd all love to see your pics!

Welcome to the boards!

He's a lovely BP! I really dig the yawn pic. Glad to see the rat bites weren't more extensive - it's obvious he's in good hands & getting lots of attention & care!

he's actually got three more, 2 on his back and 1 on the underside of his neck...poor kid. but he's doing fabulously now, put on some weight too, he was a tad underfed (they were only feeding him mice, but he inhales medium rats like nobody's business). thanks for welcoming me to the boards! I look forward to spending some quality time here :-)

I'm glad Monty is in the hands of someone who obviously cares for him the way you do. We've taken in several ball pythons who have been ravaged by rats in the past. The worse I have seen in person was a ball that belonged to the abuse investigator of the local humane society. They put a medium sized rat (live) in with a ball python who was going through his winter fast. Two hours later they thought to go check on him. He was in pretty bad shape and the rat was munching down on him as they watched. It had chewed huge holes into the snake, had actually chewed completely through the snake (from one side through to the other) near the vent and had chewed the back bone of the snake. It was horrible to see.
