I know we all have one...

Here's one of mine:

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed...every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle...when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

"I caught you a delicious bass."

My favorite poem of all time.....'The Road Not Taken' by Robert Frost:

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
-Ezekial 25:17, used by Samuel L. Jackson in 'Pulp Fiction'

"We must always fear the wicked. But there is another kind of evil that we must fear the most, and that is the indifference of good men."
-'The Boondock Saints'

It was not an outhouse, resting upon the imagination. It was reality. - Richard Brautigan

He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man. - Dr. Johnson (most likely an imaginary friend of the late Hunter S. Thompson)

Beardo, I am at shool (college) and literally 20 minutes ago we did a presentation of what that poem meant to us. It is now my favorite poem. I wish you were in the class to see how many diverse meanings that poem has to people. Some cried while presenting and others made everyone laugh, and there was also alot inbetween those two extremes. Awsome poem.

No doubt! Its such a great poem in that everyone can find their own special meaning in it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Frost is an awesome poet. :)

Gosh. There's so many...
Here's a few of my favorites.

"You can tell the true character of a person by the way he or she treats someone who can do nothing for them."

"DON'T MAKE ME OVER!! Everywhere I turn fashion mavens are telling me how to improve my hair, my home, my husband...The only problem: I don't think I'm such a loser." ~Jaquleynn Mitchum

"If you talk to the animals, they will talk to you, and you will know them.
If you do not talk to them, you will not know them.
And what you do not know, you will fear, and what one fears, one will destroy."
--Chief Dan George

And my personal favorite:

"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected."
- Chief Seattle

I used that one to end a speech I had to give on poaching when I was in junior high. It made for a lovely ending. Then I later received a t-shirt with some really pretty animals pictures on it and that quote at the bottom. Then it turned up once again later on a poster I received. I think it has latched onto me and become my favorite quote. :)
