question, are all tortises skittish? like will they always pull there head whenever you move near them/touch them? every one ive seen does but does it get tame like a snake? im thinking particularly of leopard tortises here, but any tortise that isnt so skiddish.

I've never worked with leopards but I have work with a few others. I've noticed that radiateds, hermans, russians, and egyptians all have been less skittish. In a few species I have worked with (bowsprit, pancakes, elongateds, aldabras, stars), it has really depended on the individual tortoise. The most shy tortoise I have experience with is the spider tortoise. Hope this gives you some ideas.

try red foots, especially cb cherry heads. when raised from a baby they can be real personable.

Hi there.....i have a breeding colony of leopards and they can all be skittish! The adults DO tend to be better than the babies and juvies though. As soon as they realise they are past the common predation size, their true perosnality comes out. They may be shy and timid to start with......but they are seriously good pets. And they help to reduce the need for cutting grass too.......always a plus point!
