Hey there, I've got a pair of '04 Sumatran bloods, and I'm beginning to look to the future and make plans for how I want to house these guys when they get to their mature size.
What size enclosure do those of you who have adult bloods prefer? I'm looking into a number of different options from plastic/PVC caging to tubs, etc. Of course I'd like to house them as economically as possible, but my primary concern is for their health and comfort. Which, of course, is why I want to get an idea of what to shoot for in the long run if funds need to be saved/allocated, etc.
So, if I may pick your brains, what do the people around these parts suggest?

Of course if I could ever get Kev to build some cages for me, I may be a bit more biased in that direction. ;)

What size do you suggest, lengthwise? I'm already pretty determined that I want two feet of depth, minimum.

About 4.5' is good, I'm not positive what sizes the ones Kara mentioned come in off hand. My adult is in a melamie thats about 4.5'x2'x18" and he seems snug as a bug. There seems to be a good bi of people using Vision cages as well but theres just too much randome stuff in there for me, I prefer a rectangle cube with some vents and glass in the front :biggrin2:

I have mine in an Animal Plastics T13, it's 48"x30"x18" They're great cages

I think that the AP T10 would also work for most bloods. Does anyone here have any experience with Precision Caging?
I'll be getting 2 matching ones from A.P. at Tinley. One for my ball and another for my s.t. Can't decide on which ones though. I'm leaning for the sliding glass front with no extra ventilation. Anyone recommend the light shroud or would I be alright without it? T11 or T13??? Decisions...Decisions.
For a Sumatran STP, you could go with the T10 or 11. A male would probably be fine in a T3.

i have my bloods in 421 boaphiles. these things rock...they hold heat and hummidity extremely well.
the snakes are way more active and alert than when i had them in tupperware tubs. the larger male blood, became semi aggressive at first after i moved him into the boaphile, but he is calming down.
i also have some borneo stp's in vision 332's. I like them, but not as well as the boaphile's, but i got a sweet deal on them.
before it's all said and done, i'll probably order more boaphiles.

I have mine in a Vision 632. He does great in there. I chose to use Vision because of the deal I got. Haven't used many different kinds but I'd really like to check out the Animal Plastics caging, heard nothing but good things about them.
