Quite literally! Sorry these aren't the best pics, she was right outside our back screen door (like 10 minutes ago!!!) & Kev didn't want to scare her off.

No. She's a wild turkey. We try to attract as much native wildlife around here as possible, since these animals are so fascinating to see in person. :)

Do you guys have a lot of wild turkeys in Plaistow? There are a TON around my parents' house -- whole flocks of them.

For awhile they had the most adorable owl right outside their window (maybe preying on the turkeys?) ... I'll have to post it some time.

Looking at those pics again, that is a darned big wild turkey!!!

You got 'em too? They are overrunning Maine. But an environmental success story I guess. From the brink of extinction a couple of decades ago to people screaming for longer hunting seasons now.

We had a pair of turkey's come out to my parents farm in OK. Something ate the male a few weeks later though, unforunately. I have a picture somewhere of one of the turkey's sitting on top of the jeep I was driving at the time.

Well, so much for that!!! A couple of our volunteers succumbed to a moment of EXTREME IDIOCY today and decided to chase the turkey from our yard.

:093: :icon_sta: :013: :violent1: :icon_ang: :icon_pis:

"Fuming" barely scratches the surface of how insanely pissed I am right now.

Let's just hope she doesn't feel threatened enough to stay gone.

GRRRRRR!

K~They'll be back. I have a vivid recollection of watching a male turkey aggressively chase my then 8 year old son a couple of hundred yards up a road on Swan Island. They can be territorial and aren't always passive.

Yep...she's already back. It's more the priniciple I'm pissed over, anyway. :)
