Quick Question

My female is over 8 feet at this point, feeding on jumbo G-pigs... I got her around the end of the year in '03 and she was already a little older, but she was small because someone bought her, didn't really feed her much, and brought her back to nerd after a couple months. Anyway, she is currently feeding every 6-8 days with no problems (she'd eat more often if I would let her). My question is, should she be ready to breed by november/december? I'm pretty positive that she'll be at a good length/weight by this time. This would obviously be her first season and I didn't want to start breeding her before she's ready. I know females breed at 11', but is this the best thing for my snake?... Should I wait another year or will she be fine? Any constructive input would be awesome....

Age is more important then lenght. I have a female tiger het that is a year old and shes pushing 10'. Females retics are sexually mature at three to four years of age. At that age you can try breeding. If she won't go at three yrs of age, she should forsure at four.

She'll be in the age range of 2 and a half years around the time I want to breed her.... should I still give it a try?....

That would be pretty rare if she would breed at that age. You can give it a shot. If shes not ready, she will do the tail wagging and musking.

three year olds can be big pains in the asses to breed , If she breeds at 2.5 then she does rar but, I dont see the need for major concern

yeah I figure its worth a shot... I mean it cant really hurt right... maybe it'll warm her up for next year

If I was you I would just skip trying to breed her this year, let her age 1 more year, and put on some more size, and yes if you try to breed her this year and lose too much weight it will really hurt your chances for next year

I agree with tdark1. Let her age and become more mature. No need to rush.
