What would you like to accomplish with your animals for the New Year?

I personally plan to delve deeper into blood python addiction & obsession, finish bloodpythons.com, and hatch a bunch of the little whippersnappers! :P :P :P

Hope everyone is looking forward to a great year!

Well, my first goal is to get some more rocks to replace the ones I lost last year, and to establish a nice breeding colony for some temperment/genetic science projects.
Second, to get my taxonomical/common name site up with pictures of all snakes and a brief page describing each species, geographic distribution, care in captivity, pictures, and status in the wild.
Third would be to start a few "side" projects (GTP's, Womas, Bloods, Eagg-eaters).
And last but not least would be to get all my cages switched to home made plastic cages and racks.
Nothing exicting, but it keeps me busy :D

2005 Goal:
To hopefully produce a Frosted Ghost!

To hopefully expand my collection to more than one snake. I guess I'm just a little less experienced than most people who are here right now.

I'm very interested in investing in a Blood Python or two.
I've been craving a Leucistic Texas Rat.

I might be adopting a homeless BP.
And if a friend doesn't "shape up" on his snake care skills, I might also have a Red Tail boa on my hands soon.

I will also hopefully begin the path to majoring/minoring in herpetology.
Also plan on learning more about Eastern Indigos as I'd like to have a pair/breed them one day (probably not in 2005 though...)

Blood Pythons are my goal this year. Those are the most addictive creatures. I didn't know any particular breed of snake could be like crack. :D I can't wait to get started with the learnin!

Hatching out baby crested geckos! I may pick up more females later this year. It'll be the first time for the whole deal, I'll be so thrilled to see eggs.

I may also pick up a male Irian Jaya Carpet Python later this year from acreptiles I won't be ready to start on babies for a few years, but I'd like to make that a future project.

First we would like more and better caging and a HOUSE!

As far as breeding goes... eh, I'd like whatever we breed to be successful and all the babies to be healthy! We will be producing more Spilotes, hoping the boas will take (working with poss het albinos and hopefully Harlequin-type), the Savus will be bred this year as well as het for Sunglow Sonoran Gophers. Our Borneo Short tails should be ready this year, too. We will be brumating the Spotted kings and CA King to breed early next year.

I would like to do that. Hopefully by getting one or a pair from you.

And last but not least would be to get all my cages switched to home made plastic cages and racks.
That is prolly my second goal.

I also want to expand my collection further this year. I also hope to breed this year or next. I know I havesome other things I want to do I just can't think of them right now.

My goals for 2005 are to continue to enjoy and nurture my current animals, and to add another one or two if something just happens to catch my eye.

Our biggest goal will be to have a successful breeding from a cbb pair we purchased back in '99 as neonates. We already have a couple of projects where mating has occured, but if we get those two to go it will be the creme de la creme for us.

I'm still hoping for action this winter/spring on my BRBs as well as a BP that I sent out to be pimped upon!

I also may be pairing my male GTP up with a fellow herper when his female is good and cycled!

For the 05/06 breeding season, I hope to be breeding BRBs again, a litter of 100% het albino Bci is in the works, JCPs perhaps, and Crested Geckos should be going at it sometime in there!

Other than breeding, I'd really like to add a pair of Womas (realistically) and I'm dreaming of a pair of Blackheads (possible, but by no means definite or guaranteed!)

Well, I've obviously got a million other plans, who doesn't? The other goal that I'd really like to see happen this year is to establish the North Dakota Herpetological Society for herpers in our area! I've already started www.ndherp.com as a gathering place for locals in our area, and I am researching how to successfully get a herp society rolling!

Well, that's a few of the goals. But there's always more! (Like getting a better website running!)

Take care and good luck to ALL in the following year!

Get my girls up to breeding size for the fall. I have one who is a bottomless pit and well on her way to that. Get through this college idea with my mind intact! we have a couple breeding projects in mind.. so we shall see how that goes..and better caging. there are also a couple things i would like to add our collection here. :)

*edited to add.. as i turned around, i saw this huge arcade game sitting caddy corner in the herp room..lol..to get my other half to get the wiring taken care of, so we can put it in my sons room. that way, we will have more room for cages and reptiles..hehe

I'm hoping to produce my first ball python clutches (first clutches of anything actually). I've got 4 females over 1500 g and a nice male pastel producing plugs. I've witnessed copulation with all 4 and I am nearly (nearly because I've never seen it before ;) ) sure that one has ovulated and had her pre-lay shed and if I'm correct I'll be posting pics soon enough.

Other than that I'd like to keep improving my collection of balls and if I can find a nice albino retic that fits the budget I'd like to fill that empty cage again as well.

Oh, and hopefully this year I'll become a first time father.

Well, just as an update, I was going to pick up a baby IJCP when Anthony C hatched out some...

He put some 2004 holdback's for sale, and if the weather would warm up, the little guy could come home (couldn't ship last week, stupid weather) :smt009 Right now we're on hold to see what the weather will do for next week...but I think Anthony's going to end up hanging on to him for another week :smt022 You can see pictures of the little guy at www.acreptiles.com

But at least this way he won't freeze, or be sick or anything when he finally does come home :smt026

And, I should add as an update, although it's not a herp goal, I may attempt breeding tarantula's later this year...(we'll see, it's definately a future goal.)

I'm always wanting to expand and get into new species plus add to the one's I got. But one of the species that sticks out that I want to pick up this year is the bloods. And I hope to be getting a pair from right here :smt023.

I will be producing some nice crested geckos this years..fire/harlequins and some nice yellows and orange dalmations.
By the end of this year we will start preparing all our breeding projects ready for their first mating season. Over 75% of our snakes will be ready to breed by the end of this year. So we will be preparing all year for this.

My goal is to spend every single dollar I can get out of the bank account without my wife knowing about it on snakes, racks and supplies...

And then spend all the money she DOES know I spend as well... 8)

Hopefully in the next year or two I will be breeding multiple species...
SHould be ready to go in the next 2 years with BP's (Normals and Albino hets), Dumeril's, a bunch of different Corns, Thayeri Kings, Womas, and, God willing Angolans...have to start squirreling my money away for those though...and whatever else comes along...

03-16-2005, 09:31 PM
Plain and simple.... have my mom allow me to get another snake. She has this freaking one snake limit and it drives me insane! Her only reason is she doesnt want it in her house. :angryfir: And its not like she doesn't like them she holds my ball all the time she just doesn't want another one. If i were allowed to get another it would be between a male burm, red tail, dumerils, or a blood. But my goal for the next 5 is get a business degree and open up my own pet shop speaclizing in reptiles.
