Are there any Retic enthusiasts out there any more or has everyone converted to Crested geckos

Well my kids and I are retic enthusiasts. We currently have a pair of tigers, a pair of normals, and a beautiful Ambon female(thanks Kara =D> ). And of course we drool over the pics of the Golden Child babies!!
Would love to add a few of the NERD line to our collection someday such as the G.C. babies or the flame retics. And of course my kids dream of someday owning an albino retic and a borneo bateater. Someday.........

I have a few right now, 1 14ft norm female (hopefully gravid), 1 12ft normal male, 1 10ft normal male, 1 4-5ft female super tiger, a pair of albino hets (both small-ish), 1 5-6ft normal unsexed, and 3 baby Javan males. Retics are tied with burms as my favorite snakes.

Look no further, here I am, your biggest fan of Retics. :smt006
My baby girl is almost 20ft. and sweeter than your average ball. I'll work on getting a better Pic of Raja and I together.
I can't wait to add to my collection, I need a BF for my girl someday. Hopefully Kara & Kev can help with that. For now though I have plenty to keep me busy, with my 1 tiger retic, 1 argentine boa, 2 columbian red tails, 2 balls, 1 argentine tegu & 1 bearded dragon.

Luv Ya,
:smt023 Mary~

Here I am, just discovered this forum today, finally a place with some more retic nuts like me, might not have a lot of them now, but thats only because lack of cages for more and lack of money lol, seems always to be the case with snakes though. Hopefully I will be posting some pics of mine sooner or later though, granted that I can get some decent pics of them anyways..not a camera wizard lol.

I think the valid concern would be whether these kids are capable of supporting so many large constrictors. Let's hope their parents are responsible & know what they're getting into.

*But that's another discussion entirely.*

Just my $.02

well seeing that we are best friends with samson at slitherinc and for some reason we arent poor so we can afford to let the snakes eat as much as they need and more and I also have had snakes since i was 3 so I have a head start and i can afford to give them the best of everything.

I am now a Retic fan. I used to be into venomous very heavy but I got married and had kids and the venomous had to go. Right now I have .1 Silver Retic (NERD) 1.1 Sulawesi (NERD) 1 Normal and I am always looking for more. It's seems to be kinda like tattoos, you can't just have one, or two, or three.

Im sorry being friends with someone carries no weight with me. I work for Kevin and Im friends with Kevin does that mean it gives me the ability to sling cobras and rattlesnakes around??? Somehow his freaky ability with hot snakes will rub off on me??? I highly doubt it.

Granted I havent seen many people work with hots but Kevin is BY FAR the best I have seen and I dont think that somehow being in proximety to him will give me the ability to handle them like he does.

Base your knowledge and abilty on what you can do and know not what your friends can do and know.

WOW very nicely put and not one whatever whatever.
I agree with Andrew, I hang out at NERD everyday with all the gang and I still get drilled by everything going. What I have learned from NERD however, is it's not cool to cry in front of everybody. :smt022 :smt023
PS. Andy, were you complimentig Kevin? OH GOD what did you do now. :nana

Yeah but since you are under him, you know a lot more than if you didnt work under him. I am saying we can handle it perfectly well and if we get into trouble which we wont, we will have an expereinced person to help us through it, not that we are perfact and magical because we know him.

Welcome to the forum, Blake!!!

I think you'll find that some of the reactions you get are due to the fact that other kids on other forums have acted like idiots, and it makes some of us older farts a little skeptical at first.

We've seen younger members on different boards that claim to be "hardcore herpers" actually turn out to tell a lot of lies, and give other people's experience as their own. It sucks that you're up against this, but by the same token, you also have an opportunity to change people's minds about younger herpers.

I think it's fabulous that you're able to work with retics at a young age. Seize the opportunity to learn all you can, especially if you have older, more experienced herpers to help you along the way. Keep an open mind & be willing to take advice.

Good luck with your various projects - we look forward to hearing more about them!

well i thank you all for your concern and unerstand were you are coming from. but we are not your average kids. we are very ready for this and snakes are what we love, and it i am sure is the same for all of yall. we are very careful around all of the snake and will not hold big ones unless others are in the room. we have studied snakes and now know them like the back of our hands. i am sorry yall are not happy that such young kids get such a great oportunity.

thank yall very much

NOBODY here has said any such thing. In fact, scroll up 2 posts & you'll see where I said that it's fabulous that you get to work with retics at such a young age.

Keep up the antagonistic little comments like that sir, and you're not going to get very far around here. Please don't make situations out to be something they're not.

Understood?

I got my 1st Retic from "NERD" 6 weeks ago she is awesome the calmest snake I've ever owned. Thanks Nerd ! I'm talking with Andy to get a male next week. Retics are so interesting. I spent to long with Burms and did not know what I was missing. I still love Burms and plan 2 get an albino in the future.
