I want to purchase so heat tape to use for my ball and boa's enclousure. I not quite sure how much i'll need. My ball is in a 40 gallon breeder and the boas in a 10 gallon. So if anyone can give me an idea of how much to order to properley heat the cages. Thanks in advance

The boa isn't going to be in the 10 gallon for long, so you'll want to be prepared for the future. I think you'd do well with 2 panels of 11" heat tape. With the 10 gallon for now you can just set part of it under there. Don't forget to get a thermostat or rheostat ;)

Its says on beanfarm.com they are solf per foot. Is a panle considered a foot or is it a certain size?

Yes 1 panel of 11" heat tape is 1 foot.
What is a good rule of thumb for setting up a rack with heat tape? I.e, should the heat tape cover about half the floor space, or a quarter, or...?
Thanks!

Kitt, it just kinda depends on how well you think the enclosure will hold heat, and how cold the surrounding air to the enclosure is. I just have 3 in heat tape going about 3/4 the way down on one side in my sweater box enclosure. If you were going to put it somewhere that it was cooler I would use 11 in on the back wall and maybe another strip of 3 in in the bottom back.. it all kind of depends. Just let us know what your planning and I'm sure someone can help ;)
