My 12 to 13 foot female retic has been off feed for about two months. She was always a good eater until recently. I put my mature male in with her and she wanted nothing to do with him. If she doesn't want to breed what could be her problem? Could the winter months be throwing her off even though her temps are the same? Thanks.....

The female would crap and musk all over when I put the male in with her.

My female did the same thing when I introduced the male 3 weeks ago, but last night my male was spurring her and she didnt seem to mind. So dont give up yet. :smt023
And now back to our guru, :smt102 Andy?

Probably just keep trying her with food, and if she keeps refusign keep putting the male in. Three year old females are fairly rough to breed.

Nothing else in her environment has changed???

I was using paper for her bedding and swithched over to mulch. When I made the switch she stopped eating. Should I try to put her back on paper?

Do females show signs of breeding other than going off feed?

any tail rising by the female at all. I had a female do the same (musk) and three weeks later be locked up.... Id keep trying as long as it doesn't turn into a coil throwing free for all.

I think my male is out of breeding mode. He no longer cruises his cage and is showing alot of intrest in food. He won't even look at food when he wants to breed. I'll give it a shot and put them to gether today.

yea that doesnt sound the best because normally males are hyperfocused on either mating or eating. Ive had males eat during breeding mode but, it normally took a lot of teasing(ok pissing off) to get them to strike realize it was food and go to town.

Finally shes back on feed. Must have been a bit of a winter fast. Nice to know that I dont have to thaw out rabbits for nothing anymore. Thanks for all the suggestions.
