Yup! She's looking great! It's a shame about the ugly sasquach with all the arm hair holding her and screwing up the pic. :smt004

Last I heard they are Morelia clastolepis which would be their own species, as described by Tracy Barker. Have you heard differently?

last I read on Anthony Cappenetto's site they surley did have full species status. but Morelia is constantly disputed so , who knows what is being called what I mean Moreila Vividis is still refered to as Chondros........ Hard to break people of old habits

This is true... my friends like to come over and say "Chondro" just to rile me, rofl. The Moluccans used to be lumped in with the Morelia amethistina until Tracy did the scale study on them. Now they have their own species. Check the EMBL database (http://www.embl-heidelberg.de/~uetz/LivingReptiles.html) ;)

thats the thing that srews every thing up Tracy did to a scale study but, Im sure theyre are academics who have problems with it. I.E. some people think that Jampea deserve full species status but once again someone will have a problem. Coming from my experience of being a bio/psych major I had a prof who speciallized in the evolution of Dentrobates and literally marked his whole collection differently from any common name I have seen.

Which Dendrobates did he have? I know that the tincs have several different common names for each different look/locale. For instance, we keep Citronella tincs. *shrug*
I am no expert by far... but there will always be arguments between the seperatists and lumpers.

when i say collection I mean pickled over 200 species represented of frogs in general Hylides included. He studied the geometry of skull development from tadpole to the adult stage.
Actually, TTBOMK Dave did the scale study & published the systematic w/a few other people. He named the Halmahera python Morelia tracyae after Tracy.
K~
Honestly how accurate can some of the taxonomy be? When you can produce a Macklot's carpet cross... different genus yet viable offspring are produced... what defines a genus? I have this feeling that the taxonomy will be further disputed :smt017 :smt017 :smt017 Time will tell.... all shall bow down at the feet of the EvilMorphGod...

I am kindof how many people are about the Chondros... but in reverse.
I REALLY like the new name. Morelia clastolepis. It has a nice ring to it. I think I'll use it. ;)
thats a cool snake, what kind is it?

She is a Moluccan python. Very closely related to the scrubs. Highly intelligent, alert, lightning fast strike.... but calm once in your hands ;) Our male is much MUCH prettier since the (xanthic) males get more golden as they get older whereas females turn very dark, almost brown. Here I am handling MacBeth II:

It would be nice to eventually acquire a pair of axanthics. I have this thing for blue reptiles, lmao.

Mollucans look awesome!!! After I finish up aquiring all my retics for my tiger group I gotta get one! Who breeds them? What size do they get? I'm not familiar with scrubs, ect that kind of snake in general, but if care is similar to retics they sound like a good all around snake.

steve, they have not been bred in the u.s.a few scattered breeders in europe and australia have.yasser of spitfire reptiles just got his 2nd clutch in the last couple of years.none survived from the first.but i would guess he will hold them back to see if c.b. will be easier to breed.they are a great snake to work with if you have scrub experience.their feeding response is second to none.
