My Retics are gabage disposals but Justin got my Granite burm hooked on hampsters. Ever try feeding an 8' burm a 3" hampster? :banghead:

mt 8 foot albino durn went off feed about 2 months ago and for some stupid reason when i was drunk i opened the door to his cage and put a chick in front of him and he took it. so now to get him to eat a rat i gotta trick him with a chick.

Try rubbing the rat with a chick to scent it. If that doesn't work, feed the chick to him and just before he finishes the chick put the rat in his mouth and let him train it. After a few of these he should go to rats. Its worked with me on my hampster problem. :smt023

yeah thats what i do. the problem is for the last year and a half he has been a strong feeder. just went off feed. the only reason i can think of is maybe because its winter or he wants to breed. he is not rubbing or cruising his cage though. hell his name is even heffer.

I have a young green burm that looked like it was going to starve itself to death. I tried every combo and trick I could think of. Gerbils, rats, mice,(of varying colors)live, frozen thawed, stunned. I tried hamsters and chicks also. I was about ready to force feed the little bugger. Then a friend of mine gave me a bag of frozen russian dwarf hamsters that he no longer had use for. I defrosted one, tried it and he scarfed it right down. I have been giving him one every few days to fatten him up. I tried to feed him other items and he still refuses. I tried the rubbing the mice on the dwarf hamsters and he looks interested but does not take.
I will not let him defeat me though...I will convert him! :smt027
