Magic Hat... nice smooth subtle apricot....
Blue Moon Belgian White or if its available Hoengaard (sp?) belgian white...
Rolling Rock??? You might as well drink urine...same goes for the bud... glad to see the switch to Red Stripe (good stuff but brings back to many memories of the Caribbean...same with Kalik)

If you want a beer that tastes like piss, give Mississippi Mud a try, it will leave you wanting to rinse your mouth out with lysol. I promise.

Some decent beers on your list, many are missing, but a complete list would take up the entire forum! I have been stuck on Bass for a while now, so that is how I voted. Guinness cannot be ignored. Newcastle should never be over-looked. I also agree that Blue Moon is worth a glass or two, or nine. Nice, light, summery brew.

If you are new to beer, do not let color scare you. Most new beer drinkers try a stout or a porter and decide that dark = strong. Brown ales are, in many cases, some of the smoothest, easiest drinking beers available. Try a Newcastle, or a Samuel Smith's Nut Brown. Heineken used to make a really nice Special Dark, that was very nice and light.

You should also pay attention to your pairings. Fat Tire and pizza can't be beat. Guinness with fish and chips, or a heavy, sweet porter with your cigar. Even beer to beer pairings are important. A night of drinking that starts with Newcastle and ends with Guinness, will be a favorite memory. The hop difference, if that order is switched, will make the Newcastle, even if it is fresh and wonderful, taste and smell very skunky.

If any of you get to the Kansas City area, or have a good, beer oriented local store, check out Boulevard Brewing Co. They make a great, crisp, Pale Ale, a really nice, light, slightly sweet, Unfiltered Wheat, a better than average Dry Stout, and a KILLER, heavy, Bully Porter.

BTW: Budweiser is not beer, and cannot legally be labeled as beer in many countries. Avoid it at all costs. - Brian

What do most American beers & having sex in a canoe have in common?

F***ing close to water!

The best beer I've ever had was from imported over from Germany. I can't remember what it's called though.

And personally, if you know a GOOD beer homebrewer, you'll get stuff that's much better than most of what you can get in a store.

Negra Modelo. Mexican dark beer. Completely unpretentious & ultimately tasty.

Shiner Bock - the official yummy beer of TX!!!!

Blue Moon (thank you JonT for turning me on to this gem!)

Killians - good kid beer in a pinch.

Newcastle Brown Ale

Guinness

Bass

Spaten

Fat Tire

Sam Adam's Summer

Harpoon

Corona is about the lightest thing I'll drink...or else a Heineken if I'm slumming. ;)

I don't see Long Trail on there... A friend of mine drinks that pretty much exclusively; says it's the best. Personally, I prefer either scotch or girly drinks, but that's just me...

HA! Tied with Guiness!

I'd have to say Boddingtons on tap (definitely not in a can...even with the nitrogen "widget"). Either that or another good bitter. John Smith's extra smooth bitter is a good every day beer.

For American brew's:
Yuengling-first brewery in America...great beer!
Sam Adams Winter brew (better than summer...:P)

No Shiner Bock on the list, my all time favorite, nothing better than a Shiner and BBQ on a summer afternoon

Wow, you could have easily lumped most of the beers on the survey as "Mass Produced American Lager". They all pretty much taste the same. I have too many favorites to count, but one of my favorites is Ruination IPA from Stone Brewing company. Hopilicious!
