I have a dorm refrigerator that I stripped down to hold a couple of clutches of eggs this year and I have a couple of questions. I am currently using a Zoo-Med heating pad in the bottom of it, plugged straight into the wall. The temps are holding at about 96 degrees, so I have to hook it up to a thermostat, like I thought I would. The question I had is should I put the thermostat probe in the box with the eggs, or should I just let it hang in the incubator?

Second question, if I have a difference in temps from the top(say 90 degrees) and the bottom(say 91 degrees) would that cause any problems incubating Ball and Burm eggs? Should I put the probe in the top box or the bottom box. I have noticed up to a 2 degree difference between the lower and upper levels. I do have a computer fan running in there and that has changed the difference fron 4 degrees to 2 degrees.

Any opinions?

The probe should go in the box with the eggs, but first make sure you dont have a different temp from top to bottom. If you do you will need to add a fan for air circulation to keep the temps the same through the entire incubator. If not your going to have some egg problems.
