Ash...they are regal (well, I think all of the bloods & STP's are, anyway). They are extremely vocal & very alert and inquisitive - always into everything.

As far as more intelligent or having a better capactiy to retain memories...well, that may be overblown a bit. IMO, all of the bloods/short-tails are more intelligent than most folks give them credit for. It does, however, seem like the Sarawaks are more aware of what's going on around them & a lot more curious than other localities or species of short-tails/bloods.

Something to keep in mind is that we're working with a very limited gene pool of these animals here in the States. I can't help but wonder if the extra inquisitive nature of these snakes is a trait that has manifested through breeding within that small gene pool. It will be very interesting to see how new bloodlines of Sarawaks are in comparison...if we're ever able to bring any more in (good luck!).

Just my $.02

If this photo shows....

Here are two from my collection. Some of you may have already seen this photo. I am anxiously waiting to see if the large female is gravid. She is currently going through shed. I caught her locked up with the youngster this winter which is a rare site!

I hope to add to the pool of available animals. My other female has not demonstrated any breeding behavior, but I expected that since the male was with this monster girl. BTW she is all of 25lbs and 6ft.

Hey Ethan,
I don't know if your question was directed at me, but this girl is much too small still for breeding and I don't yet have a male to go with this lovely girl yet. Hoping for someone to come up with something soon. However, as you know, there is a paucity of Sarawak's in this country and I don't expect there will be any new blood for a long time to come.

The top photo is sarawak body scales and the lower is a typicall borneo body scales. Both from the same location along the body. Reminds me of hte difference between angolans and ball pythons....

Can you tell a difference?

Interesting... The Sarawak's scales are more raised. Do they have different lifestyles that would neccessitate different scalation (ie, more or less aquatic than other bloods)?
