One of my favorites. This is Blade. :smt007 (For the record, it molted for me last weekend). I still haven't witnessed a molt, and I've seen a quick glimpse of a snake shedding. That's it, every other time I come in and it's all over.

Here's an old picture of my P. platyomma I bought this one when I was fairly new to the T keeping world, and the guy thought he was selling me a tiger rump. I took a gamble on it. Turns out, if this one is a male, it'll will be a metallic purple. If it's a female..well, it'll be a pretty boring brown. However, It will be a 9 inch spider either way :)

Great looking tarantulas, I love inverts, that one does look like tiger rump. Arachnids ROCK.

Yeah, I did some posting on an invert board I frequent and we got it straighted out. It didn't help that the label on the cup was handwritten, and it said platyonima instead of platyomma. I'm not sure if I still want a tiger rump, since the platyomma sling (spiderling) will loose that great rump color/pattern. (Like I said, I thought I was buying a tiger rump, or at least a T that would keep that pattern). If you look for rick west's tarantula site, he has some pictures of adult males. I think the platyomma is still listed as being Vitalius, but it really belongs in Pamphobeteus.

They are still reclassifying and reviewing some T's, so sometimes it's diffcult...and don't get me started on common names.
