For my bloods, i was thinking of building these immaculate wooden cages, but after thinking and estimating prices...i think it would be in my best interest just to buy plastic ones.
So my options are vision and boaphile...does anyone have an opinion of either?
Thanks

Good question.I was wondering about the same thing.I don't really feel like building another cage, plus I have cash this time to spend some money.I think I'm going boaphile though.I like the single fold down door and the sleek design without the dips and the cone for above heat.

I've heard that the visions don't hold humidity very well, and some people end up taping up most of the vents. (I haven't owned any of the custom built cages yet).
You might also want to look into animal plastics for caging.
I plan on either picking up some boaphile or AP cages myself. I won't be ordering those for a little while though.

if i go w/ boaphile, is 12" enough height? i l realize bloods are ground dwellers.
I would go for the 48 x 24 x 12.
also vision has the new 48 x 26 x 15 for $199 shipped. This cage has one vent that runs along the back. Why are these cages prone to not holding hummidity?
There is also monster-cages.com and cheapcages.com anybody have an opinion of either?
thanks,
jason
Personally I LOVE Animal Plastics enclosures. Great for holding heat & humidity, many options available, no warping like you sometimes get with lightweight cages, and their customer service is second to none.

I have Matt from monster-cages.com building me a custom Croc Monitor breeding enclosure as well as some custom Retic cages... So far it has been a very enjoyable and stress free relationship... I should have them soon and I'll give an update... According to him... "They may not be the prettiest cages around, but the quality makes up for it"... I think they're just as pretty as most others...
Another thing to think about is the guy from Boaphile registered the monstercages.com domain name, so if you forget the dash then you'll goto his page... For someone to do that they must REALLY see some type of competition...
Peace,
Grant
PS, Matt as a person is a good guy... Figured I would throw that in there as well...
I'd check up on Matt Martin from monster-cages on the Board of Inquiry.

I would call that smart marketing, and boaphile does have 6' and 8' cages as well.
I read up the board if inquiry, and yeah, i am leary.
so let us know how the transaction goes.

I just got a stack of boaphile 4' cages 12" tall, and I think they're great, and you can't beat the price. I got the double heat option, so, almost half of the bottom of the cage is covered with a big ol' piece of heat tape, good for larger snakes to really soak it up. 12" of height is plenty of space for the snake, the only thing is that if you have some really uppity snakes, a taller cage may make it a bit easier to get them in and out.
Animal plastics also makes very nice cages, but they are a bit more pricey. I think they use heat cable, Im not a big fan of that.
Visions are flimsey and they dont stack well, I would say no on that one.
As far as the plethora of other people out there building cages-well, you always take a risk when getting anything from anyone you don't know, or hasn't been around for very long. I don't think it's worth the potential aggrivation.

I have boaphiles for my pythons, haven't had a problem. I like the way the boaphiles are heated better than my AP cages. AP cages are heated with heat cable, which raised my electric bill really high! The boaphiles use flexwatt, which is much lower wattage and doesn't cost as much to heat.

I have a stack of the 12inch cages from the boaphile and I love them. I have a pair of adult Red's in them and they have more than enough room with the 12inch height.
She is just as bad as my guard dogs guarding her house. Hahahaha....
