View Full Version : Normal Burm
This was a normal burm I had on rescue for a few months last year. Sorry for the cage conditions, I put him in there with wet newspaper and paper towels to help him shed.
His name was Albert, but I changed it to "Alapaki" which is the Hawaiian form of Albert. He looked really funny because he did not have scales above his eyes (he rubbed them off before I got him). They eventually grew back, but they still didn't look right.

He had great colours too. A pretty cool snake all in all.

Beautiful animal, to bad they get so dang big.
Ian, good job on the rescue. I have a normal male I got from Kevin a year and a half ago and he is my gentlest giant I have. :)

Isn't that what makes them so awsome. :-k

I totally agree!!
This is one snake I wish I would have held on to instead of adopting out. But, live and learn, right?
that has sweet colors i have 2 albino burms they are cool hopefully i will be breeding them in a couple months.

Thanks B.
Be careful to whom you sell the baby burms too. I work with local rescues, and they are the snakes we get the most of.

Umm....i just got "Albert" back for the 3rd time, yes I was the one who originally "rescued"(siezed, ganked, impounded...ect.) him from someone i encountered during one of my usual pet store raids...
Sad sad sight... and he was onil 3-4 ft and less than a year old.
This is kindof long, so bare with me...
i rehabbed him(mites, internal parasites, ect) and adopted him out 6 mos. post quarantine, to a really good person. When he could no longer care for albert, he brought him back to me(I always ask that an adopted animal be returned to me if whom ever adopted it can no longer care for it). and, post quarantine, I adopted him to Ian. When Ian could no longer keep him, i took him back again. This time i kept him for over a year. During his time with me, he was used in school shows and such, but more rescues came in and i was forced to let him go...to yet another good home.
I checked up on him monthly at his new place and the "person" who had him took AWESOME care of him....until...one day i want to see him and poof gone! Disappeared for well over a year and as quick as he was gone, i got a phone call from the person stating he had to move into an apt and could no longer keep him... soooo..you guessed it, albert was on his way home! The person stated that albert was still in the same condition as when he left(9 or so ft and taking 5 to 7 lb bunnies...so, needless to say..i was happy.....
...then he showed up... :x :( :x :(
Here's where I WOULD swear...
to make a long story short, poor albert was starved...literally only 1/3 of his body weight is remaining and now my sweet boy, is not so sweet(he's a starvin burm...so everything is potentialy food).
Anyway, I am upset but I guarantee this"person" will NEVER show his face around snakes again...(I chewed him up and spit him out too put it kindly<ian knows how i will straight up let someone know exactly how I feel, exactly when I feel it and I WILL NOT hold back>) and that albert will only leave me again if it is someone I know personally.
Thanks for letting me ramble
I hoped it wasn't true, but it is. I saw him today :dead:
If that was a dog, the person would have been charged for animal cruelty, but I guess its OK with a snake....
