I've been thinking about getting my first milk, such as a pueblan or a sinaloan, they're such gorgeous little snakes. any recommendations on temperament, looks, etc?
When it comes to milks, I personally love Andeans & blacks, just because they get so darn big. Black milks (gaigeae) start life tri-colored & turn jet-black as they mature. Andeans aren't the brightest in the world, but they're certainly some of the friendliest. Both species are very hardy & solid.
Pueblans & Sinaloans are both great - very popular & easy to find at most major herp shows, or from a reputable breeder. Babies are notoriously spastic & nippy, but will generally tame down with gentle handling & age.
Just my $.02

I have one Honduran, and she's spazzy. She'll fling feces everywhere at first, and then calms down. :)

I have a honduran/flordia king mix. She hides 90% of the time. She's easily startled (compared to the pythons) , but I've never had her musk me or anything like that.

My personal favorite of the Milks are the Hondurans. I have found that if you handle them frequently as babies, they turn into calm, wonderful adults. Nelson's milks are much the same way. Milksnakes rock! :D
Did I mention that Andeans & Blacks aren't much for poo-slingin'? A little wiggly as babies, but not inclined to spaz out and bite like most baby milks.
And they get BIG!!!! :)

Big is always good :smt004
I also have a spaz pueblan. Hides all day, but sometimes see her out at night. I'll only get another pueblan if I decide to breed her. She's my only non-boid, not overly impressed so far. Maybe I'll try a different milk sometime.

My vote goes to the blacks. They are great. I was surprised to see how big they are when they are born.
