Hi guys. I have a question. I was wondering how much longer I should wait before I start to worry about things.

My normal burm, Lamia, bred a tiger retic. They bred some time during the summer, because he was sold around that time and had been temporarily housed with her while I was selling cages/snakes.

Lamia had her pre-lay shed 12/18/04. She laid 5 slugs 01/19/05. I don't know much about breeding and the time frame for things. This breeding was not planned. Lamia is acting normal, still very curious, and alert--probably more so than ever. She doens't seem to like being touched so much right now, which I can understand. I don't know many 9 month pregant women who are all about being petted. :smt016 hehe. . .

I'm just wondering when she's gonna lay. Is she still okay? Or should I start to worry. She looks like she's about to explode. She is so big, and I just worry, seems how I don't know the time frames on this whole breeding thing.

Any help is appreciated.

Rob

Hmmmmmm...

Is she staying coiled up quite a bit? How big is she?

Take he out and get her moving around...she may have her oviduct twisted..... She has gone beyond her expected date but we don't often see a snake lay slugs and then get egg bound. Take her out let her move around a lot. It is very difficult to assess like this for sure. Give me a few answers...any pics of her like this? Kev

She's 8'2" maybe an inch or two longer. She was around 40 pounds before breeding. Sometimes she's coiled up, sometimes she's stretched out. She's moving around a lot lately. Crawling around a lot. I've been letting her roam around outside the cage because she's been so active inside it, too. I'll try to get some pics of her today for you.

Rob, does she have somewhere to lay the eggs? She may be hesitant because she doesnt have anywhere she feels safe to lay them.

I got her a cute little nest box, so she's got a place to lay. I've only seen her actually in it maybe twice, though. I don't think she likes it.

I had her out for a little bit, and gave her a bath, too. Here's a coupe body shots of her.

I also managed to get some tongue shots, too. I haven't gotten any of those in what feels like forever. :smt053 I know of them aren't that good. My flash isn't the best.

Here are two more pics of her coiled up. She still has yet to lay anything. Should I just leave her be? I am starting to worry. If I'm worrying for nothing, please, someone tell me.

*By the way, she's laying next to her nest box in these pics.

Rob, can you feel any eggs in her? Maybe the slugs were all she had? If you can feel eggs in her, then take her to a vet as she may be egg bound.

Thanks, Ian. I'll see what I can feel and see what's up with her.
