Hi, I just got my leopard gecko about a week ago. I got it from a knowledgable owner who I trust, and apparently the gecko is in good health. I have done extensive research online and I have set up the tank very well, and I have done my best to make an ideal environment for the gecko. BUT, in the week I have had him he has only eaten 2 crickets, and he only comes out from under his hidey spot for a few minutes a day. I just need to know what the regular habits of this species are, and how worried I should be and what could possibly be wrong. Thanks.

check temps, it may be too hot, or too cold. if its in a glass tank you can cover the 3 open sides. put newspaper or paper towels as substrate.supply a moist hide, and a dry hide. make sure he is drinking and not dehydrated.etc..... etc..... if all else fails see a vet.

Hi there,
It hasn't been that long since you have had him so he still may be a bit stressed. Leos are nocturnal and rarely do pop out during the early evening/morning hours. Just keep fresh water daily, cacium in a dish, try to keep an exact count of the crickets you put in his cage & Only start with two at a time for crickets will stress him out further. Make sure that tail and skin are not loose and wrinkly. That would mean he is dehydrated. It would be a great idea to keep a record of his weight as well.:snake:
