I love the V. dumerilii.
I've always kept that species. The seem to be the most laid back to me.

Dumerils gotta love the way those beasts eat dismember mice and leaving a bloody mess. I think they are great but, good quality ones are few and far between in my opinion.

Only one we have, she was an adoption:

She's probably about 5.5 feet now and full grown. She is evil incarnate, lol

1.1.0 Niles (1 adult, 1 juvi)

a jet black water round three feet sounds like a togian water monitor to me........ very RAD Monitor
No, if it's jet black it wouldbn't be a togian as they have banded undersides, it could be a melanistic common type or a koimana(sp), it could even be the newly discovered species.
And yeah, I'm into varanids.

I have a nice Varanus collection at the moment...
1.2 Crocodile Monitors (One of which is a Jayapura HIGH Yellow.), 1.0 Asian Water Monitor, 1.0 Jampea Water Monitor (AWESOME! His head is turning white, not unlike the boneheads.), 1.0 Togian Water Monitor (Cleanest specimen I've ever seen.), 0.1 Sulfur Water Monitor (In the top 3 that I have seen. A 9 on the Sulfur scale.), 1.1 Pygmy Mulga Monitors (Varanus Gilleni. TINY!), and 1.0 TAME Ornate Nile Monitor...
All of my varanids are tame... I will have it no other way... LUCKILY, taming is one of my gifts and specialties...
Peace,
Grant

Hey Rusty, where did you get the Lace and lets see some pics. :smt004

Sure Outback Bill. I will try and set up pictures asap.
The Lace Monitor was from the last group on intakes we took in from the Long Island Reptile Museum when it finally shutdown (finally with a hugh sigh of relief)
Our rescue tends to specialize in varanids and large boids. So we were called out once the Iggy & Turtle rescue did there thing. The Lace was part of a group including 2 waters, 2 niles, and a handfull of other herps.
I will also try and get some good pictures of the black water. My husband did some good research on her and came up with a few things. I'll have to find his notes. But I'll send some pics this way. Please let me know what you guys think.
Sincerely
Rusty

Where did you get that info? I just thought she was beautiful and had double the amount of ocelli... I wasn't aware of the size difference, I just thought it was cool getting a Croc that was from the Indo side of New Guinea... She does seem to be growing faster than the Papuans...
Grant keep me posted on if you breed the Mulga's they are on me wish list big time............... plus nothing like local sales.
I have them getting ready for their breeding season, which is in a few months... I'm trying to trade for a Hypo Calico Retic and some Jampeas... Chris at NERD is also interested in trading some Retics for them... If I decide to keep them, I'll definitely let you know... They're REALLY cool lizards... They're like mini little Croc monitors... They're VERY similar as far as structure goes... They're VERY personable and loving... Have you ever seen Gilleni in person? They are TINY, I mean TINY, I've never seen a smaller adult monitor...
Peace,
Grant

damm I thought I was the only one into the dwarf varanid thang atleast in new england(stupid to think in the first). Well guess not. However anyone notice no one seems to care about Yellow Ackies anymore it seems everyone jumped ship? I mean I have reds but, also Yellows that have some mind blowing red rosettes(Mt Isla) this making it all the more difficult for me to cross bloodlines. I wonder if Chris has gotten his Reds to breed at all and if so when will he have some available (wink, wink) really could use another pair myself :smt006
I talk to an importer and the jayas seem to grow fastest, with some occuring 8ft in the first year and I found that to be large, you may know him as Joby, that's what I gather from him.

8 ft in ayear wouldnt that put an older animal in the possible range of being a 10-12' animal? To much monitor for me :smt011 and these occur on the indo side of New Gueina?
HEY!!! Omar, that reminds me...
Any pictures of the nine foot female croc monitor? We'd really love to see something like that.

Well atleast I eluded to alittle more subtly Kara :smt023
I would love to see pics as well
Sorry...when someone brags about having a friend with a 9' female croc monitor, subtlety goes right out the window. Curiosity just...overwhelms me! ;) I'd love to see actual proof of this.

No Reds yet, the 2.2 we have are just getting to size, but no eggs yet. However, we did get 4 tristis eggs last week :smt004 And I'm expecting another Blackhead to hopefully go soon!

Way to go Chris!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt026
I don't brag, I just thought it was pretty cool, and I no longer do business with him, but if you want you can email him. his name is Mark....

even though your not on buisness terms im sure a picture is not that out of the question come on now a 9ft female that is truly something to share :smt023
I refuse to work with him after what I went through, but if you want his email is Varanid26@aol.com or something, but he doesn't reply his email so go figure. I'm not lying, infact Jungle Exotics had a 9fter in their shop and you can call them up
Well, isn't that convenient, Omar? Somehow I'm not surprised.
K~
I don't brag,
Sure ya don't...

8 ft. in one year huh? What is the importers name? And what company does he work for?
I had a 12 ft. Komodo dragon male for a while. He was pretty cool, but these people pissed me off so I decided to sell him. It was pretty rad. You could even call my friend and ask them, they will tell you all about him. He also ate a strict diet of beets and collared greens.

Ian you are way to funny, but my Komodo would only eat through a straw. :smt005
