I'm wondering how quickly the emmies complete their ontogenic change and if the age varies as much as it does with the chondros.

I've got one chondro (the one in my avatar) that was changing color by the time he was 4 months old.... and others, not biak, that are nearly 2 years old now and still sporting quite a bit their neonate colors although quite lightened.

We've found it depends a lot on how well they eat. In November 2003 we had a litter of 11 basins. Some of them ate as soon as we offered and every time we offered, some took a while to eat, some would eat one time, skip the next, and some had to be assist fed. The one that had to be assist fed the most and the longest just STARTED her color change last December, when she was 13-months-old. Her siblings that ate right away and ate every time we offered were done with their changes by the time they were 8-9 months old. The same thing has pretty much held true for the other litters we have had.
