I have 1.2 Rhino rat snakes and part of their habitat is sphagnum moss in a tupperware dish. If they do not go to the bathroom in it how often does it have to be changed to stay somewhat sanitary? :smt017

I believe it stays good for months. However, to be on the safe side, I would recommend changing it every two weeks or so, though you could most likely go a good month or two.

OK thanks Ian! I have had it in a container for about a month now and it smells and looks fine but I will change it just in case :smt023

Matt, I would change it if they were my snakes. Maybe I am just a bit of a dork, but I would rather be safe than sorry, especially with expensive snakes!
