Welcome to the forums!
Yes, it is true, but I personally would not feed them to any of our snakes. Whole prey items are a better source of nutrition.

Just curious...do you have any nutritional information to back this claim up?

I don't have anything concrete, Matt, but if you think about it even the hair and bone is beneficial. Just the thought of feeding something processed to my animals gives me the heebie jeebies, lol.

I would think maybe it would be worthwhile to find several other snake enthusiats in your country that could get together and put in a big order of frozen rodents from one of the US companies andhave it overnight shipped. It might be your best option as others could share the shipping costs.

I have intertained the thought of going to one of the local deer processing shops in my part of the country(South Carolina) and seeing if I can order freshly made pure deer meat sausages without preservatives or spices. I would only intend on feeding my snakes the sausage occasionally when mice are scarce, I could inject them with a Reptile multi-vitamin. Also I have seen home sausage making meat grinders for sale for less than $20.00. These have a hand crank. This way I can add natural products to the meat such as bone meal, hair, vitamins, etc. You can buy the casing at a butcher shop and even some grocery stores. The casings are generally made of pig or sheep intestines. It would be great if this worked well for the folks out there who just can't stomach feeding a pet another living thing; frozen/thawed or not.

I used to feed my corns the sausages and they seemed fine, but I'd go with copperhead on this one, get a big order with some friends or even by yourself and store it.
