How has your herp collection changed in the past year? Have you been able to cross any animals off of your "if I could only have a..." list? Are you watching any of your projects come full circle? What are you looking forward to with your critters this summer?
Reflect.

I hope i can get a few Black SST's, but i have learned so much more.
How has your herp collection changed in the past year?
It went from I think about 5-7 to about 15-20+... Not a HUGE leap, but it's been increasing at a damn steady rate since early 2004 ;)
Have you been able to cross any animals off of your "if I could only have a..." list?
Yup :D
What are you looking forward to with your critters this summer?
Not sure what exactly to look forward to yet; I guess I'll have a bit better idea on Saturday ( ;) :D ) I know what I'm not really looking forward to, and that's moving them all nearly 300 miles... But I guess that's exciting in its own right ;)
I'm definitely looking forward to whatever breeding projects I decide on this fall... WHEE!!

I went from 2.1 ball pythons to 2.19 ball pythons and added a hog island boa along the way.

i bred an albino female blood to a het male...
she is a 2001 vpi animal. the person who had her before me, could never get her to breed. She laid 22 eggs...only 4 of which are good. That is a bummer, but the fact that she did breed for me, and that i do have four good eggs is my sunshine on a cloudy day.
Both the parents are great snakes. The eggs are due to hatch around may 23rd.

How has your herp collection changed in the past year?
We have acquired more of the uncommon things and have decided to let other "regular" stuff go...
Have you been able to cross any animals off of your "if I could only have a..." list?
YES!! And we're still working on getting others that are still on our list, lol.
Are you watching any of your projects come full circle?
Yup, we have boas that we produced that we will be breeding soon.
What are you looking forward to with your critters this summer?
Hoping:
the Olives and Papuans lay eggs
boas drop something nice

Michelle, what did you get off your list...you didnt brag to me....!
i'm looking forward to raising up some killer female hets/morphs! in a year or two, let the combos begin... after this summer, i'll be able to cross one off the wish list.
this past year, i've been streamlining a bit, trying to stock up on females and plan out what i'd like to produce. i have also realized that i can't have and produce everthing! lol

The Olives, Papuans, Dumerils and a reverse trio of southern phase d'Albert's. ;) Hope to get Blackheads, Green ratsnakes and Bromeliad boas eventually... and a rusty gopher snake, heh. At some point we'll have Boelens as well. *sigh*

My collection has steadily increased over the years. Yes, I've been able to cross some off the "if I only had" wish list, but they were quickly replaced with something else on that same list. :)

This has been my most productive season since 2000. My very old, very sweet, very unique BP male is not doing so well, but he FINALLY got a female knocked up. As long as they're fertile, he can go out knowing he left his genes behind.
Finally got chondros last year, and hopefully at least a couple more this summer.

Kara, if you catch this, someone suggested the spots may be Baytril scars. I know he was never treated after 1996, but I don't know the details of his history before then. Any thoughts on that?

How has your herp collection changed in the past year?
It has changed a lot!!! Went from having 3 beardies to none (sadly). Gave a pair to our friends who own a shop (they bred them) and the other female to my dads cousin. So all 3 are doing GREAT!
And now we have 3.14 ball pythons, adding a gold striped (hopefully genetic, gonna prove him out) male to our collection next week, adding an Orange Ghost male sometime in July, and adding 12 more fems (ringers, reduced, jungles, and black backs) sometime next month. So we will soon have 5.26 bps!
We also added a female leo. We will be picking up a trio of blizzards, trio of albinos, and 2 female SHTCTs at Daytona this yr!
Have you been able to cross any animals off of your "if I could only have a..." list?
Yes we have!
Are you watching any of your projects come full circle?
Not yet.
What are you looking forward to with your critters this summer?
We will have hopefully *crosses fingers* 6 normal females go this yr and possibly 1 of our het ghost females and our spider female!
Our gold stripe male who we will be getting next week will be breeding 2 normal females...trying to prove him out. My Pastel male will be breeding 2 normal females and if our spider female makes it to size, bees! And our het Pied male will be breeding 2 normal females. And if 1 of our het ghost females make it to size, she'll be breeding our male het ghost. I really want to make some ghosts so im hoping at least 1 of the het ghost fems make it. If not, all of them will be HUGE for the 08 season!
I can not wait to breed them! 08 season is when ALL of our morphs, hets, and normal fems will be up to size, that will be a fun yr!!! But 07 is right around the corner!!!

I learned not to pull my male retics before I observe ovulation!! I got some animals off of my wish list but had no viable eggs due to my own error. Other than the eggs it has been a good past year.
Good things are happening with my animals and will only get better with the experiences I have had.
