Hi, I bought a new baby girl retic last week and she had lost a scale on the middle of her head. I'd like to know what could have caused that and what can I do to help her heal faster.
Thanks
Here's a pic, right after eating a rat.

Give her a shed and see what happens. Snakes lose scales here and there due to rubbing etc. She looks perfectly healthy! :smt004

Ryan77 is rite. What do you have for a cage? If its a tank with a screen of any kind your probably gonna be fighting an on going battle. I had the same prob. until I invested in some Animal plastic cages from Mark. Problem solved :smt023

to reiterate whats been said look at her caging screens can do that in the mean time i would through in a few extra soakings in A STERILE CONTAINER. I used to work for a priv zoo of sorts doing shows and we had a few animals that happened to and since they werent treated in a STERILE enviorment a infection developed but she looks far better then those animals and will probably rebound quite quickly

I just wanted to point out humidity, too. Make sure her enclosure is nice and humid. It may be from not enough humidity and her little head scales got dry. At one point, I had had trouble with humidity, and a baby burm I had got some dry scales like that on her head. The rest of her was fine, but her head scales got dry and did that. I made sure to raise humidity with lots of misting until the problem was solved and she healed up nicely.
Just wanted to add that, too. Good luck with her. :)
