Great looking hous snake you got there!!
I live in Cape Town South Africa and those little guys are all over the place...
Great to see they are making a name out there in the big reptile globe,in my opinion they are great first time snakes!!! and love their eyes.
Unfortunalitly u need a permit(thta is a hastle to come by) to keep them down here...
I can keep a 14ft burm and a 16ft tic no problem but a 2ft house snake i need permision...
Keep the pics coming-great stuff!!!

Yea we have a few states with dumb laws like that in our country too. They are New Jersey and Georgia of the two Georgia is the most moronic! In Georgia now native reptile can be kept with out a very hard to get permit REGARDLESS of being captive bred or not.

THIS OF COURSE INCLUDES WHAT, :fit: The CORN SNAKE.

Ya that is right it is ilegal to keep a corn snake, which is the most popular, common and easy to keep snake in the pet trade.

I will tell you a lot of folks in Georgia have corns anyway, at least this nation is still free enough that no one comes to your house to randomly search to see if you have a lavander corn snake or what not.

New Jersey has the law for Pine Snakes, they are highly prized and threated from Jersey lines. However, there are many legal sources of captive bred Jersey line pines, so to me those should be allowed as well.

If I lived in Georgia I promise you I would keep my corns and dare anyone to come into my home and mess with them, :icon_fork

I am very lucky to live in Texas, which is thankfully one of the least freedom starved places left on earth, at least for now,

Many refer to house snakes and minature pythons three reasons,

1. As you pointed out they have a lot of "boid look" to them for a colubrid

2. Watch one eat and it really starts to make you think python. Fast as lightning, agressive as heck on a mouse and they will try to eat things that are far to big for them.

3. Handle one and you won't belive how strong they are for their size. Even a little on a few days old will raise your eyebrows when he wraps around your finger. It does not hurt or nothing like that but the shock is the ratio they have from power to size.
