Face bites have to be the worst. I got tagged on the nose by a very unhappy 5 1/2 ft boa, still have a mark on the side of my nose from that!

I payed the price for being in a hurry not using the tongs.. :smt010
my hand was swollen for a week and a beautiful yellowish purple
the first thing I did was get some pics of it

Mine didn't have too much damage left over but here they are....

Green iguana to the index finger, bled everywhere.

Eastern garter, i had gloves and the thing wouldn't let go so I let him keep the glove.

Common snapper, a juvenile, got my index finger and WOULD NOT let go. It didnt hurt but i had to walk around for a little while with him dangling(sp?) off my hand, talk about a conversation starter.

1.as far as damage done was from a 18 foot super tiger retic to the neck and part of the face...scary as he wound around my midsection...glad i had a friend to pull him off...
2.as far as scariest was from a great basin rattlesnake to the back of the leg...it was a dry bite...the funny thing was i was after a collard lizard and was in very tall sagebrush and stepped into a bush to reach the top of the bush
3.the meanest snake i have ever seen...a 7 foot dwarf retic i was holding her and she was perfectly fine my friend walked into my room slammed the door and scared her...she sank her teeth into ear and back of my neck...

My worst was when a mexican black kingsnake swallowed my middle finger down to the nuckle without me even noticing it (I was working at a LPS and talking to a customer). Going down didn't hurt, it was trying to get it off my finger without injuring the snake! I thought it was kind of cool seeing this snake swallow my finger, the customer on the other hand almost fainted.

I've only been bit once... 7 foot red tail female gave me one on the hand. It was a total feeding response bite. Bit me kinda easy the first time, sunk her teeth in the second time, and then just let go. It didn't really hurt too too much, but it did bleed alot.

Mice and Rat bites have been the the most painful so far. Those long sharp buck teeth tend to sink in nicely to fingers and thumbs.
As for snakes just minor feeding responce nips from my normal ball, my fault for not using tongs. (ball overshot the mouse and nailed my hand, he quickly let go when he realized it wasnt the mouse)

Having my nose almost completely removed by a dog when I was 2, the doc had to sew the membrane back together, then the flesh. Had something like 32 stitches. :(

Rat bites to finger.

Haven't been bitten by anything larger than a 8' female boa and they weren't too awful (knock on wood), but the one I took from a male ridleyi over a month ago STILL itches crazy once in a while....

1. lame i know but an evil dog. i had to have my hand wrapped up so much it looked like i had broken the whole thing.

2. a mouse, evil thing. It was food for my ball but decided to fight back, using me as a target, got me about 3 times, pretty deep for such a small mouth.

3. one of my hermit crabs, more of a pinch really. he grabbed my lower lip ( i don't know how he managed to grab it) and held on. i almost pulled him out of his shell.

i have no clue, though maybe a wood turtle, it felt like a razor blade going right through my finger

Hmm...none by a reptile or rodent, but I did get bitten by my old parakeet once. It didn't hurt though...only a mark left where he bit me for a minute. (Maybe half a min.?)

Well my truck bit me once. Damn door slammed shut on my finger and locked. Tried to get my finger out, door was locked shut and i freaked. passed out in the parking lot while my buddy unlocked the door and went to the hospital. Lost my finger nail but didn't break the bone. Still have a sweet scar and decided to keep the truck.

I was nailed in the boot by a warthog in Tanzania. Tusk sliced the leather of my boot but missed my foot completely. Really really lucked out on that one. I hear a tusk to any part of the body can be a very bad experience.

hmm, I have been biten by everything it seems. Large rats, dogs, tartantulas, monitors, snakes (consrictors and colubrids), birds, etc.. My anancondas have left decent bites (around 6ft, my large anaconda hasn't got me since), a 2ft sav bite me on the hand but I had a glove on so it was mainly pressure, my old croc monitor glanced me (about a 1inch gash) look like someone sliced my with a razor blade. I never had a bite that has been horriable, I have esaily hurt myself worse. Broken bones, gashes, biting my tongue almost in half, the list goes on

Worst was an 8' burm, 8 stitches in the side of my hand because I jerked and pulled back.My fault for not washing my hands after feeding others.Second and third are from an 8' female retic and a sub adult savannah monitor respectivly but didn't require a trip to the doctor.

I was ALMOST fast enough but as we all know almost isn't good enough.I was fast enough to miss getting constricted but his tooth or teeth ripped me.I had it coming as I forgot to wash my hands.Funny it wasn't that bad I always had imagined it would be worse.

got a solid bite to the face (bottom lip and nose) from my '04 1.0 yellowhead het retic tonight...it was pretty cute... he's getting hungry and we were training so i was ready for his friskyness but he still got me... it was a pretty darn good bleeder, and popped a little vessel in my lip, but i refuse to put down a snake when they bites or deficates on me to teach them good manners...so i was carrying him around the apartment w/ blood dripping down my face...tasted yummy...lucky for me it was just a little defensive bluff strike...just barred the teeth and struck, no bite. he does this sometimes...he's ~6' so a heartfelt bite might hurt some...
sorry, no pics...

ChadI got bit by an 8 ft male burm (SFE) and needed no stitches, no band aid, no wrap, no nothing! He grabbed my hand, tried pulling me into the cage and constricted, I just sat there and looked at him with a "Oh shit" thought running through my head...LOL I grabbed him behind the head and he let go. I bled alot but once I washed it up and stopped the bleeding (ran it under real cold water while cutting off the circulatin at the wrist) it was fine. Best part was, it didn't hurt at all...but then again I fractured my skull and just said HOLY F*** THAT HURT! and went about my day with a slight head ache. I didn't even know I fractured it until 2 days later when the doc said so...lmao

Apart from the fractured skull thing, I've had the same experiences. As long as you don't jerk, the teeth are so sharp they go in and out with little friction and little to no pain. I have been bitten by snakes up to 8ft as well, and I after I wiped the blood off I just had some small holes. Still something I try to avoid though.
