JonT builds custom fish tanks, I thought that was what this forum was about. But if it's fishing, I'm in. -Joe D.

Yeah, I want to see some pics. And I need some pointers, I need alot of pointers. I cannot keep fish alive. I had a beta die in 6 weeks. My dad's ex girlfriend's 4 year old had one for a couple years. What's wrong with me?

pics are coming.... I'll make sure I bring my camera with me all week.... any requests?!?
How often are you changing the betta bowl water? Letting it sit out and "age"? Spraying any lysol or other cleaning products near the betta???
LMK!

I didn't change the water that often. Letting what age? No cleaning products.

if you try again... change all the water in the bowl every week. Prior to doing so fill up a container.... tupperware, pitcher, old milk jug with the amount of water you will need. Allow it to sit out with an open top for 24hours. If your water supply is chlorinated it will off gas plus allow the new water to become the same temperature as the old, not to mention offgassing CO2. This is allowing the water to "age."
Good luck!

Spraying any lysol or other cleaning products near the betta???

I like to spry Lysol directly ON my bettas, it keeps them disinfected and lemony-fresh! They LOVE it!
They also seem to enjoy Febreeze, insecticide and hair spray on occasion.

Anyway...

Bettas don't like to be cold either BTW...that tends to kill them.

So change the water more than once every 6 weeks, don't keep them on a shelf near a window in winter...huh...who knew. I though he was just a cool fish, he would lay on the bottom and let me feed him, I didn't know he was dying until...he died. I'm not good with fish. Land reptiles, arachnids and mammals I can handle, I'll stick with them.

yeah I think you are better off... think of the bettas that will get to live full lives that way :)

Seahorses are the way to go. I love them and pretty easy to care for once you get the tank cycled. My next tank will either be African chilids or agressive salt.

Well i picked up a 46 gallon bow front tank with a 36 coral life Power compct light on it. I had to redo the stand and clean it up but not bad for 200 bucks. It is set up and finally cleared up. Now I just gotta add some live rock and wait for it to cycle.

Tammy YOU SUCK at keeping BETTAS!!

What are you trying to do kill them? God, that is terrible...giving them heat?

Yeah I know, heating their little bowls with a propane torch right?
