View Full Version : Freshly shed...getting red? *photo added*
My red blood just shed and is getting some more color. I thought that the sunlight would pick it up, but it looks like I overexposed the pictures a touch. I'll work on it - still kind of rough on the photo skills...

I took this today, under the full spectrum fluorescent in the snake room as opposed to the full sunlight of the previous pictures. Thanks for tip - he shows a lot more color.

He's a little beauty thats for sure, I wish I could take stuff outside, oh well in due time. I love freshly shed snakes, I love the pattern on him though.

He's pretty! I've found the best way (for me at least) to pick up the red in my bloods is to take pictures on an overcast day. Too much sunlight tends to bring out orange instead of red.

Very pretty blood, I like his clean pattern. :smt004 He reminds me of my old one that I regret selling. :smt010

Thanks for the tip! I really thought the natural light would make him look great, but as you said, all it really did was bring out the more muted tones.

How long is he? He lloks huge!
Yep...direct sunlight sucks for photographing bloods. Clouds or shade work much better IME.
Even though he's washed out in those pics, it's obvious he's coloring up a lot - such a pretty, pretty snake. You're doing a great job with him Jim! :)

Actually, he's still quite small..maybe a bit under two feet. I was going to put something in the picture for size reference, but I'm saving all my dollar bills to get him a girlfriend...

Very nice Jim, how old is he, he is coloring up nicely.
Wow! What a difference!
You would think sunlight would be better at capturing an animal's true colors -- because it's all-natural, and all -- but I guess that isn't the case. He's got some great color!
