I noticed the other day that my female has a gold/yellow tint to her belly, and there's very few speckles on her belly (which are dark and plentiful on my male) and they are a very light gray. I don't think it could be a burn, as I've seen belly burns on rescued snakes before. She could be going into shed, its hard to tell.
I've also noticed that all her black patches are actually dark brown! She's certainly going to be an interesting one. I can't wait til she's older. Recently picked up a Bessett line yellow striped female, too. :)

I know if the substrate is always sopping wet for a long period of time, I've experienced a browning on the belly scales. Now I make sure its not always that wet in the cage.See what happens after he sheds if it goes away.I"ve treated with hydrogen peroxide and polysporin and it clears up pretty fast.

Its definitely not from sopping substrate here. I keep mine similar to VPI's suggestions. Could it have been from the previous owner?
Here's some photos of the belly:

Oh yeah, thats what I've dealt with before, except I caught it early.I just started making sure the bottom wasn't soaking wet, so I went to a smaller water bowl as they spilt water over all the time. Also I didn't catch the urine in time which I think might have helped with the yellowing. Now I check everyday as newspaper doesn't soak up much of anything. I just wiped him down with hydrogen peroxide 50% and 50% water then rubbed in polysporin. You might not have to do this as the next shedd might just shed it all off, but it wouldn't hurt.I got this info from a site explaining scale rot which I thought that what was going on.What ever it did clear up.Shouldn't be a big problem.Good luck.

Weird, I've had to deal with rescues having scale rot, but it never looked like this. She eats fine, looks fine, there's no overly brown or ragged edges. The yellow tint is all over her body, so I'm thinking its more of a pigment than skin damage.
She's been here for about 2 weeks now, and has been kept on dry paper towel with a lightly moistened hide (which I allow to dry before re-moistening it) and a water dish. She never soaks herself.

I was just searching for infomation that resembled what was going on and I just took that advise.I know its not scale rot right now but who knows.Like I said more than likely on the next shed the yellowing and browning will go away with no treatment, but I still did what I said in the last post to be on the safe side. Its all good, and more than likely all will be fine.I'm surprise no one else comented on this.I'm curious myself.Later, Ethan
