Hi all, my new baby blood was foaming a bit , kind of a bubbling spittle a the mouth last night, the only other ython I have is a burm and I never saw this before. Any ideas what it could be? I don't see any problems with the mouth or nose region on the snake, everything looks clean and healthy. The only other thing I can say is this was just a few minutes before a bowel movement. She seemed fine afterwards but I was a little concerned...

It sounds like a respitory problem. Anytime you see excess mucus coming from a snakes mouth its most likely a respitory infection. I would get the animal to a vet, but in the mean time, increase the humidity levels to about 80% and raise the ambient air temp to around 87 and a basking spot of about 89. Bloods like alot of humidity and if that isnt provided can sometimes bring on a respitory infection. Also you want to make sure to have fresh air coming into the cage as well, stagnent air will also cause respitory problems. Make sure you find a REPTILE/EXOTICS vet... its been my experience that a normal mammal vet doesnt know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to medicating snakes. Good Luck with your snake. I hope it all works out ok for it.

Thanks guys, I have not noticed the problem since but she will be getting her first checkup in a few days so I will be sure to bring this up to the vet. Also thanks for the other suggestions, I will raise the humidity in her habitat... I do see an exotics vet and he has been good with my burm in the past, so that shouldn't be a problem...

Also I checked on www.arav.org and my vet was listed there, so that is re-assuring...
