his question is pretty broad, what type of info is he looking for? i know a couple of people who keep them, they are skittish and they poop alot.

i would check out some north american field guide books...there are tons of natural history in those types...
snakes of north america: eastern and central regions by tennant
Reptiles and amphibians: eastern and central North america by conant and collins
these two are probably the best two n.a. field guides out there...

As they're not the friendliest of chaps they're not kept very often in the U.K. All we won't is info on keeping them in good health. Know what I mean

I come across them in the field here in Massachusetts all the time when I am in search of timber rattlesnakes. Sometimes I see 3 or 4 a day if conditions are right. Most are 4 feet long or more. They have the alarming habit of waiting until you are right on top of them then bolting at the last second scaring the crap out of you. If you pick them up they wiggle like crazy and bite and crap on you. they have a very high metabolism and eat and crap alot like said before. Maybe they calm down a little but probably not the best pets
