I know this isn't particularly snake-related. It has a picture on it, so I put it here. If I need to move it somewhere else, I will. :)

Here is what my fiance and I have decided to do for wedding favors at our wedding. This is just an example that I made in Microsoft Paint. Please excuse any typos in the notes. It was just a test. There are also lots of animal pictures to choose from. We are going to print out several of each. This example has the polar bear on it.

Instead of passing out silly candy bars or matchbooks with our names on it, we decided to add up how much we would have spent on some wedding favors, donate all of that money to the Defenders of Wildlife and adopt an animal/group of animals, and then pass out personalized cards with each guest's name on it showing that we donated money to the Defenders of Wildlife in their honor as our "thank you" for attending our special day.

Whatcha think? I'm trying to get opinions on this kind of stuff. I seriously lack whatever girl gene helps make planning, decorating, organizing, etc. easier on girls. :smt012

I like it. I think it's a far better use for the money, since most wedding favors will get tossed. This way everybody still has something they can save if they really want, and it's completely unique.

I think thats really neat! Very progressive, if you will. I'd be thrilled, anyway!

Its a great idea. I agree, most favors get tossed anyway. More time to spend on other details, :relax: like the honeymoon!!!

I kinda lack the "girly planning gene" too...

But that is an AWESOME idea!!!! Truly clever, with a positive impact to boot!

Besides, if anyone makes a snarky comment over it, you always have the "You mean to say you DON'T CARE about saving all the cute wittle fwuffy animals?!?!?!!?" comeback if necessary.

Or you can just tell them to go $&#^ themselves, which is what I would do...you know, being not girly and such. ;) (j/k!!!!! kinda....)

ROFL!! Wow. That's exactly what I told the people who have already given me shi*t about it. I told them they will have animals adopted in their honor and they will LIKE IT! lol

Thanks for all the opinions, everyone. Support from any of my friends (even the online, forum friends) helps since no one in my life really understands my passion for animals, especially snakes. They usually give me crap for it. :smt012
Eh, who cares. I have other friends who get it. (Hooray for the NERD forum! :naner: )

I also really like the idea, too, because I just can't stand the idea of spending $200+ on some over-priced, cheap stuff like itty bitty soaps or a magnet or a matchbook with our names on it. :smt019
