I fed my ijcpxjcp today. I tried a few days ago with f/t, no luck, he just kept hitting it and hitting it but he wouldn't constrict. I tried two days after that, same thing. Well today I went with live and he did the same thing, he tagged it about 7-8 times but no constriction. Since he had a beam on the mouse and the mouse wasn't fighting back I let him keep biting hoping for a constriction. He tried to constrict twice but it looked almost as if he changed his mind, then finally bam...he took it and ate it. He was eating 3-4 hoppers f/t a week, but I gave him one adult mouse and he easily took it down. I should have some pics from the feeding tonight and some cage shots up tomorrow. Aside from that, is this type of behaviour common? My bp's either shy away and do nothing or they constrict straight away, they don't bite it over and over again. It was almost as if the carpet thought he was venemous or something. Weird weird weird. -Joe

thats what mine did when i first got her. just struck an struck, relentlessly. id say yours did that to the mouse because it was surprised with the change in prey size and then realized that it was food and not a predator

just out of curiosity, how high strung is yours? you said he is about a year old and im wondering. mine is about 6 months i guess, maybe a lil older and she is pretty tense. she lets me do more handling now than just holding but she always has a close eye on me quite ready to bite.

He hates when I open his cage, he'll bite and bite. I have to use wood tongs as a make shift hook to get him out, but once he's out he's fine. He has calmed over the two weeks I've had him.
