his long front legs identify him as a type of jumping spider..... and from what i can see it looks like a male. (note the large pedipalps) he is probably harmless, especially if he came from the us. we really only have two species of spider that you really have to watch out for and he is not one of them

the two to watch out for are the black widow and the brown recluse ,yes???
we ain't got any over here that you have to be weary of, so it's action stations every time one drops out of an import. lol

generally no..... but all spiders will bite if cornered. for example if they were in the shirt you are putting on and well you get the rest from there.

yes thats exactly right, the black widow and brown recluse are our only 2 spiders that you have anything to worry about from the U.S. of course you probably know what a widow looks like and a recluse can be identified by looking at the cephalathorax. they have a fiddle/voilin shape on their head region which has also given the name fiddle spider. they have long legs in general and resemble a wolf spider until closer inspection. you usually wont find one unless you go looking for it, unless your really unlucky

I'm no expert but I fit came from the US. It looks like a young male "Wolf spider" that has had most of his hair rubbed off during shipment.

he is frightened...... he just got shipped across the atlantic ocean. and i said "normaly" not agressive. every spider has their own personality

oh and yes the abdominal area does have the look of a wolf spider but the cephalathorax doesnt look like that of any wolf spider ive seen. you see how the front legs are longer than the back (they are longer than the back arent they or is this picture just misleading?) that is what has me believing that it is a jumper. a good give-away will be LARGE and i mean large forward facing eyes. if it has those then it is def. a jumping spider. if not then it could very well be a species of wolf spider. either way they are both harmless
