Is the vision cage that is 48"W x 28"D x 18"H a proper size for a blood?

Thats a good size for adult bloods. They should be very happy in there.

Do young bloods need a smaller cage or would that do for their entire life?

I would not put young bloods in to big of an encloser. They are alot like ball pythons, where they do better in a smaller environment. If the cage is to large they feel insecure and can shut down on feeding, be very tempermental and can cause health issues. Start small and grow with the animal, its always your best bet.

For babies rubbermaid shoeboxes work great, and at about 6-8 months of age I move them into some rubbermaids that are about 23x16x8 or so, and once their ready 1.5-2 years they get moved into the larger enclosures. Glass tanks dont work very well for keeping humidy and moisture, its much better/easier/cheaper to just get a rubbermaid and poke some holes in it.

Does the plastic work in helping with the privacy of the snake? Do they stay secretive just when they are young, or through out their lives? handle-ability for youngsters vs. older snakes? and thanks for all the other info!
