I was just wondering what others have used to seal wood cages that they have built. Personnally i have just used poly with four coats. It has worked well but only had for a short time.

I was thinking about gluing sheet vinyl down on the bottom and two or three inches up the sides for a good water seal.

Any thoughts?

We use polycrylic.

You can also use tile board or shower surround material.

I would use some sort of a non-toxic sealant and then use tile board over that. That way, the snakes are not in direct contact with the chemicals and its easier to clean, the wood will also last longer. You could probably use contac paper as well if you wanted. I know Greg Maxwell uses that on his cages....
