Hi,
Just wanted everyone to be aware of this in our local news. I check the news daily on-line with our local news affiliate and saw the caption "Deadly snake sticks head out of toilet when man lifts lid" So I clicked it expecting to find an article about a venomous snake that had some how made it's way into someone's house and ended up in the toilet.... Instead I found this article: http://www.thewmurchannel.com/news/4228858/detail.html

The deadly snake quote is actually on the main page at www.wmur.com about halfway down the page on the left.

I have written a letter to the editor explaining my views on this matter and hope you will take the time to express yourself to them also. It is stories like this that hurt our hobby and cause laws restricting the keeping of reptiles and amphibians.

Just trying to get the word out

Chris

PS: make sure you click the link on african rock pythons on their webpage it is comical.

Other predators include crocodiles, badgers, and mongooses.

Do they have badgers in Africa??

I dunno... It is bad press; but Damian is right, they didn't use the word "deadly" in the article, or the main page, that I could see. I guess newspapers are just going to print whatever news they think will interest people, and a dude finding a python in his toilet is pretty interesting.

It's not exactly a good thing, but it could have been worse... They mentioned trying to "re-home" the snake, and they didn't say anything to the effect of, "Why are these things still legal?" I abhor that quote, or ones like it, but that seems to be the mindset of a lot of people these days...

I'd say that they removed the deadly from the article, it was there when it first ran.

It looks like that is aimed towards young children, so I think the site is appropriate for them.
However using that as a reference for a newspaper is just silly. Sillyness I tell you!
