How to kill the rat

I rescued a 7 foot red tailed boa. My first snake. She seem very finicky about her rats. The last one died before I got to feed her. She seemed to love it more then the live ones that she is always trying to run from.

How do I kill these rats that I have waiting on hand?

you can kill them many ways,holding them by the tail and wacking them on the back of the head or you can make a gas chamberwith a rubbermaid tub and a co2 cartridge from a paintball gun.

Grunt, the gas chamber sounds better, how do you get the gas out of the co2 cartridge, or should I just go and look at one? Thanks.
