View Full Version : Another New to Tokay's....
Picked up a trio of captive hatched Tokay's last Sunday at the White Plains expo. I got a very good deal on the 0.0.3 as the seller did not wish to seperate the 3 from a single deli cup into individual cups. I do not blame him as I could imagine all 3 darting out and about across the crowd. I currently have them set up in a ZooMed front opening tank with undertank heat pad, 3 cork bark slabs, pseudo plant thingy, and large water dish. Humidity (for my house at least; New England) comes from a warm spraying once a day. They have voraciously fed on crickets offered every other day so far (nothing as sweet as my Leo's....very scary). Temps are in the mid 80's during the day and low 70's at night. So far, they have been very neat to watch (under my red headlamp). Not sure if I should seperate into individual enclosures or if they can be raised as Leo's/Monitors in small groups. After all the years of hearing the wives-tales of Tokay's, these are the first that I have personally kept. I am hoping for the best, but welcome any tips or advice. Thanks in advance.

what are the dimensions on the tank? what are their weights?
They are each 2 weeks old. No weights, sorry. The tank is the 12x12x18 Zoomed front opening terrarium. I am planning on seperating them out into 2 more of these cages.
So far, each has taken a couple of crickets each, offered at night. I have not offered a dish of mealworms, but I was going to give it a go this weekend.

mine are of unknown age but range from 12g to 62g (i have 5), and they were reluctant to eat supers from a bowl, they finally did once they realized i was out of town and that was their food while i was gone lol
you might have better luck seeing as how yours are CBs, mine are all WCs, 4 of which i caught myself
seperating them would be a good idea, while they are small males can live together but as they get bigger they get more territorial
that tank should be an ok size until they get bigger then they would need more space, dont forget they get to be between 150-300g
do you have any pics of them yet?
