Glossary: tyrosinase-negative
Close
A form of albinism caused by the lack of tyrosinase, the amino acid required to produce melanin.  Tyrosinase-negative albinos (AKA T-) are often referred to as "amelanistic".
albinism in reptiles: vivid yellow & white coloration with bright pinkish-red eyes.  As the first ball python color mutation bred in captivity, Albinos played a large role in piquing the initial interest in ball python color morphs.  Selectively bred, these snakes range in appearance from faded to high-contrast.  Albino ball pythons also lend their vibrant pigmentation to other color & pattern projects with outstanding results, such as the Albino Spider & Albino Genetic Stripe.
