Granite ball pythons are quite variable in appearance. The main feature of this pattern mutation is a speckled, broken-up appearance to the lateral markings. Granites often display some extent of dorsal striping, although this trait isn't necessarily present on all individuals. There are many Granite & granite-type ball pythons in captivity at this time, and it has not been determined whether or not the various lines are compatible when bred together. While several breeders are working with Granite lines that are known at this point to be co-dominant or dominant, future breeding will tell whether there is a "Super" (homozygous) form of the Granite, and whether or not certain bloodlines of this appearance are inherited in a simple recessive manner. We have crossed our Granite bloodline into our Yellow Belly and Woma projects with some pretty snazzy results, and look forward to additional combinations in the future!
