The Pastel Jungle is one of the initial morphs that caused people to sit up and take notice of ball python mutations. Widespread in captive collections, Pastel Jungles (or simply "Pastels") are extremely popular and a component of many exciting designer combos. These yellow-and-black snakes can be highly variable in appearance, from light, burnished gold to bright vibrant saffron yellow, on a grayish to blue-black background. The Pastel Jungle is a co-dominant mutation; when bred to a normal, approximately half of the resulting offspring should be Pastels. Bred to another Pastel, there is a 25% chance of producing a Super Pastel, the {mosgloss=homozygous} form of this trait. While there are many separate - yet compatible - Pastel lines in captivity that all descended from different wild-caught stock, Pastels share the characteristics of light eyes, a white belly, and bold, contrasty black & yellow pigmentation.
