This is our absolute favorite Reticulated Python mutation, it does not get much better than these! This mutation originates from a wild collected male that we purchased off of our good friends Eric Crider and Matt Lerer,  they said it was something special and they were right! This is a smaller growing locality Retic, our original male is under 8' from the island of Selayer. We got lucky with this guy and we were able to establish him quickly @ NERD, we produced a single clutch the first year and proved out the mutation as dominant or co-dominant. What a thrill it was to see replicas of the original male in our first clutch! Since then we have made a very limited amount of these animals and have held the project extremely close without releasing it to the market.  We wanted to keep the entire project back and raise our girls to see what the "Super" form would be. In 2007 we hit our three year mark, several females taunted us with expected ovulations but held out to our dismay! As of now, we do not know what the super form is and we have only produced a single clutch this season which are just plain AWESOME! Keeping with NERD Retic naming tradition we call this mutation the Golden Child because of how we regard the project; the name has nothing to really do with its description. Their appearance varies greatly from snake to snake, some are patternless while others may have blotches or circles. The back is often speckled with granite flecking and a hypoish {mosgloss=dorsal} area. Some animals are a yellowish gold while others are dark brown with incredible iridescence! The eyes are some of the most noticeable traits of this morph, instead of the typical orange background it is white! They are absolutely a smaller growing snake that tends to get stockier than other retics. Males may begin to breed @ 5 - 6'. This mutation has to be the rarest reticulated python mutation in captivity since we have basically retained the project due to expected designer mutation potential! You may notice that our good friends over at Prehistoric Pets have a few of our girls to raise and enjoy! We regard Jay and his gang @ PP as top notch retic keepers with incredible projects in the works. We have such high regard for them we make sure they get some of our snakes to play around with and show off!
