These
large, enigmatic constrictors are among the least-known of the
pythons. They are frequently & mistakenly called "Papuan
olive pythons;" actually they belong to their own genus &
are not a locality type of the olive python (Liasis o. olivaceus).
Papuans are extremely strong & also seemingly extremely intelligent
snakes. While infrequenly bred in captivity, they are undemanding
captives and a joy to handle & interact with.
We are currently
working with a good-sized group of Papuans and strive to produce
them consistently in captivity so that others may come to do the
same.
